I’ve updated SearchLink to v1.8 with a couple of improvements. SearchLink is a System Service for quickly turning selected text into Markdown links based on various search engines. See the SearchLink project page for more details.
First, I added a country_code
configuration parameter. This will define the country for iTunes searches and the link that gets output. To change the country, open the Service in Automator and look at the top of the “Run Shell Script” action for the configuration options. Use any valid two-character country code (e.g. US, UK, DE, FR, etc.) between the double quotes after the country_code =
option.
Second, because SearchLink is replacing the AutoLink functionality in the Markdown Service Tools, I made it default to a Google search if no [](!xxx)
format links are found. Thus, it works just like the old AutoLink Service when you select just a few words and run it, replacing the selected text with a link to the first Google result.
Download below, and feel free to delete the AutoLink Service at this point (it’s not working anyway). The Markdown Service Tools have been updated to reflect this, but there’s no other change beyond the removal of the AutoLink Service.
Also, if you have any “Gatekeeper” issues, let me know and I’ll update the download as needed.
