DEVONthink Publish to Marked Share

Installation

  1. Download the package above and open it. It installs for the current user and does not ask for an administrator password.
  2. The installer adds Publish to Marked Share to DEVONthink’s script menu and contextual menu, and puts a small helper app in your Applications folder. That helper receives the login and stores it in the Keychain.
  3. The first time you run the script, click Connect. Marked Share opens in your browser. Sign in there and let it hand the credentials back. The script never asks for your Marked Share password.
  4. When macOS asks, allow Publish to Marked Share to control DEVONthink.

Hold Shift while running the script if you need to connect again.

Publishing

Select one or more Markdown notes in DEVONthink, then choose Publish to Marked Share from the script menu or the contextual menu. Text records whose names end in .md or .markdown are included. Anything else in the selection is skipped.

One dialog covers the whole batch. Type the name of a folder that already exists in your library, or leave it blank.

  • A blank folder puts new notes at the library root and leaves notes you already published where they are.
  • A folder name files new notes there. Notes you already published move into that folder. If the name does not match a folder, the script stops instead of filing them at the root.

The share links are copied to the clipboard. Each record also keeps the link in custom metadata (Marked Share URL), along with the document id and content hash. The record’s own URL is left alone.

Publishing a note again updates that same Marked Share document. If the note was edited on the web after the last publish, this copy is left as it is.

Images that live only on your Mac, and DEVONthink item links inside the Markdown, will not resolve for someone reading the page on the web. Notes larger than 500 KB are skipped.
