Web Excursions are select bookmarks from my travels around the interwebs, because I'm always thinking about you while discovering other people's cool stuff. You mean that much to me. You can see all of my (public) bookmarks on my LinkDing, and visit the bookmarks archive for curated lists across the last few years.

Web excursions brought to you in partnership with Tower, the absolute best Git GUI for macOS.

‎Masoc

masoc is a photo and video editor built only for Apple devices, as a modern alternative to Lightroom. The same tools run on iPhone, iPad and a native Mac app with a real menu bar and keyboard control for every slider.

This app really impressed me, recommended. Not a trivial expense, but a really solid photo editor and Lightroom replacement.

‎Parachute Backup App
Now on version 2, Parachute is a solid backup app for photos and files, Mac and iOS, from the Kaleidoscope (love) team. Back up to USB, NAS, S3 (B2) and more. Link above is for Mac, but it’s also available for iOS
Breathink Basic
A nifty writing tool that combines outlining and composition in one window, making it easy to arrange and expand on ideas. A little quirky, but I like the idea a lot.
Driftlog

Track the countries you’ve visited automatically — from the photos already on your iPhone, then in the background from today.

Honestly, I thought mine would be really boring as I’ve never been outside of North America, but just the map of the roadtrips I’ve taken, with galleries for each one, was really cool. I bet for better-traveled folks this would be even more fun, and only $7 with no subscription or tracking, and everything stays on device.

There’s an in-browser version too.

If you’re using Git, you need Tower. Check it out today
