Web Excursions are select bookmarks from my travels around the interwebs, because I'm always thinking about you
while discovering other people's cool stuff. You mean that much to me. You can see all of my (public) bookmarks
on my LinkDing, and visit the bookmarks archive for curated lists across the last few years.
Web excursions brought to you in partnership with CleanMyMac X, all the tools to speed up your Mac, in one app.
Happy 4th of July, for those (in the US) who observe. It’s a hot one
here. So I’m cooling off with some cool Mac (and one iOS) tools. Please enjoy
responsibly.
PowerHouz is an iOS app that wraps 26 home automation functions in a sci-fi command deck — neon HUD, sound effects, a surveillance “red alert” mode, the whole Make it so energy.
HomeKit accessories, Apple Health rings, calendar, sleep tracking, weather — every panel styled like you’re running a starship bridge. Runs on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Apple TV.
Cool little utility that, as opposed to a standard clipboard manager, cycles through recent pastes as you hit the keyboard shortcut, replacing the insertion. It’s the kill ring I’ve played with in KeyboardBindings.dict, but covers images and other formats as well.
A really well done little notes app that lives in your notch. Rich text editor with Markdown/RTF export, highlights and checklists, and keyboard shortcuts for everything. It even has #tagging you can use to organize your notes.
ScreenSnap Pro turns plain screenshots into pro visuals — backgrounds, annotations, GIF recording, instant cloud links. One-time purchase.
This looks like a really great app. Not sure anything could ever replace CleanShot for me, but this looks to be a great alternative, and doesn’t require a subscription. Trying it out for a while, I’ll report back.
