Clippable Mobile
Clippable Mobile is a sibling to Clippable, designed for Mobile Safari.
To install on your iPhone:
- While on this page, press the “+” button at the bottom of the screen
- Name the bookmark “Clippable Mobile”
- Choose the folder where you’d like it to appear
- Press “Save”
- Open the Bookmarks screen back up with the book icon, to the right of the “+” icon
- Navigate to the folder with the new bookmark
- Tap “Edit” at the bottom of the screen
- Tap the “Clippable Mobile” bookmark to begin editing
- Press and hold on the address until the magnifier show up
- Drag the cursor to the point where the word javascript begins, right after the “#” symbol
- Press and hold the backspace key to remove everything before “javascript”
- Save by pressing “Done”
To use the bookmarklet
- Navigate to the page you want to read
- Wait for the page to load completely and the progress indicator to stop
- Press the book icon to open your bookmarks
- Locate and tap the “Clippable Mobile” bookmark
The page will be regenerated with the same features as the desktop version, but formatted to fit your iPhone screen. Turning the phone to its horizontal position will maintain the width but provide larger text. Images are resized to fit the width, and code blocks are cut off, but will be copied in their entirety if you select the area and choose “Copy”. Pressing and holding until a selection begins will allow you to clip text for emailing or saving in Evernote, AwesomeNote, SimpleNote, etc. While the selection is active, you can drag to an edge or the top to select the whole page and paste into an email or notes program.
Note: Sometimes you have to run it twice to get a clean page. I’m working on it.
